Testimony of Melanie from USA

A while back, I was the Spirituality Chair for my university's Newman Center. It was an aggressively secular university, and a very stressful place-- people were isolated, felt like they could never be enough, no matter what they did. I didn't have words for it then, but now I can recognize what was going on: everyone, all the students around me, were dying of thirst-- thirst for God's love. At the time, I had a growing love for and devotion to the saints. I had only just realized for myself what good friends they were, and what a comfort. What a grace to have holy friends who've walked before you, and who are now in the sight of God! Who know your situation exactly, and can intercede with God on the behalf of you and the ones you love! I used to think they were cold, aloof, perfect; a pretty good reflection of how I felt about God. And I had a strong suspicion that's how a lot of other people felt. So I took my newfound zeal for Saints and used my Chair position to do a couple of lectures on them. Bl. Pier Giorgio was one of the first ones I told people about, and people were really amazed. Here was this guy who was...funny! And liked beer! And played pranks on people, and climbed mountains, and was in love with a beautiful girl; and even though his family life sucked, and he wasn't great at school, he was all of these things....and holy, too. Giorgio was just such a normal guy, I think he really started to make a difference for people-- that Saints weren't marble statues, they were people; and it was totally possible that maybe, just maybe, it was something they could strive for, too.

Testimony of Sarah from USA

As a young adult, his life is so empowering for how he lived a true life to the heights before he was even 25 since he died at age 24! I am 22 and feel like I can relate to his life, plus being Italian I feel even more connected to his background. He truly shows witness to the ability to grown in communion with God and live it out in our daily life. Thinking about his motto "Verso L'Alto," to the heights, towards God - think about the journey of climbing a very tall and difficult mountain. The journey would take days, several moments of stopping for rest, situations where our mental capacity will be tested for whether or not we must go on or turn back, and much more dangerous situations. Though once we get to the top, we are breathless, captivated in the beauty of God's creation around us and feel as if we have entered a world that is nothing like the world we live in - peace and beauty. Well take the imagery of this mountain and the journey and apply that to our destiny towards heaven - we are always moving towards God or away from God, to the heights - and each day we make steps toward God we are climbing up the mountain to our eternal home, Heaven. Pier Giorgio really showed how we must keep working hard to reach "the heights" in order to obtain our union with God.

Testimony of Marian from New Zealand

Blessed Pier Giorgio came into my life when I was feeling like I was just exisiting rather than living. He showed me that I can live. He showed me that is is right to choose joy. He challenges me to stay awake at night and keep Our Lord company even though I am afraid of staying awake. He challenges me to build my life around serving the poor. He shows me one can still enjoy creation and be a saint. So I agree that we do need Pier Giorgio canonised. I'm writing this while currently praying for a miracle towards his canonisation for a friend whose mother has terminal cancer. She needs her mother because her mother-in-law has already died of cancer, and she is pregnant with her second child and lives overseas from her family.

Pier Giorgio received his faith not from his parents but from his grandmother. So I was hoping that I could take this angle for an answer to prayer, that grandmothers are needed alive. I'm hoping that this will be an important part of his canonisation, to be remembered for helping keep grandmothers alive. Please join me in praying for this miracle to help Blessed Pier Giorgio go higher. Of course this very moment and request have already been thought of and allowed by God so it is as always if He wills it. God's will be done.

Testimony of Dominique S. from Mexico

At the age of 15 I had the opportunity to travel to the WYD at Madrid. In one of those beautiful days over there my brother went to the church where the relics of Pier Giorgio were exposed, and he had the chance to met Wanda. After talking for a few minutes with her, he mentioned that in our flight back we were having a long scale at Swiss, so she told him that if we had time, we could go and visit Pier Giorgio´s house at Pollone. Who could miss an opportunity like that, right? So we move the seas to go there along with an incredible priest that was traveling with us. We spent there all the afternoon learning about his life and taking a look to his stuff and his context, of course being more than inspired to follow his steps to holiness and to love more and more God.

I think of Pier Giorgio as my friend in heaven since then, after all he invited me to his house haha. But also he is an inspiration to share my faith at my University, with my friends. He´s an inspiration to pray the rosary and be close to Mary. And as other saints, he is a proof that living a life for Christ is the source of real joy, and the most worthy thing in the world!

Testimony of Fr. Sean Patrick R. from England

I first was introduced to the inspiring life and 'ordinariness' of Blessed PierGiorgio at the WYD 2000 in Rome and again at WTD 2002 Toronto and WYD Madrid as a young priest. His gift of the common touch, his desire to serve the poor in a simple, quiet and unassuming way has been an inspiration in my path to the yes of my life of becoming a priest. I hope and pray that Blessed PierGiorgio's will continue to help me in my work with young people as a young priest.

Testimony of Pablo SG from Mexico

4 years ago we had the opportunity to travel to Europe, my wife, along with the priest of our parish in France and Italy and we had the bless to meet and stay at the Pier Giorgio family countryside house. We had Mass, prayed and meditated in front of the relics. We went to the Oropa Sanctuary. And all this because 2 years ago my children had that same opportunity and we have become devotees of Pier Giorgio. We have worked in various youth meetings where we present the Blessed Pier Giorgio as a role model. Now we work together my wife my children and me in an Alpha project in Mexico promoting the evangelization for young people. I certainly see this visit as very providential as I have always said that my son Pablo and my daughter Dominique are Pier Giorgio and Luciana. And we have a mission to evangelize as a family. Blessed God and become a saint Pier Giorgio!

Testimony of Joe S. from USA

Blessed Pier Giorgio has been a tremendous source of inspiration for me and my friends. As a group, we love the outdoors, having fun with friends and enjoying life. He is an example to us that you can do those things, and live an authentically Catholic life. Our group meets weekly and tries to imitate Bl. Pier Giorgio by doing what he did; ie. performing acts of service, fasting and prayer, adoration, Mass, alms giving, etc. He is the example we all need to follow in the world today.

Testimony of Chris T. from USA

Bl. Pier Giorgio has impacted my life pretty profoundly. When I went off to college I ended up in an area that was super protestant and it was the easy thing to do so I just started going to a Baptist church for about two years with my roommate. During that time I would pray here and there and attend mass once or twice a year but throughout that time I would pray to Bl. Pier Giorgio before I went on a backpacking trip, or before I went climbing or really just anything outdoors, which is often because I work as an outdoor guide. I would always get this longing for mass and the Eucharist whenever I went on these trips. I worked at a Catholic adventure camp in Colorado this past summer and had an amazing experience which I attribute to the intercession of Pier Giorgio because he was one of the patron saints of this camp. I am so glad for it because it brought me back to my faith and I have fallen in love with Catholicism again.

Testimony of Jufre G. from the Philippines

I came to know Bl. Pier while searching the internet for a saints who cloud be a role model for the youth. Upon reading his life story, I realized that one does not need to perform miracles or great things to be holy. He made me realized that holiness can be achieved in doing ordinary things with great love. He is a model of how to be charitable to everyone without seeking for any reward
and it inspire me to perform small acts of kindness to those I meet. His great devotion to the Holy Eucharist and the Blessed Mother is another thing that I admire as well, especially his vigils before the Blessed Sacrament.
Bl. Pier is one of those who helped me to discern what kind of life God is really calling me to. At present, I am a member of the Franciscans of Our Lady of the Poor (FLP) and studying Theology at the Inter-Congregational Theological Center in Novaliches, Quezon City. Through signing up, I wish to express my gratitude to God and to Bl .Pier for the many blessing I have received, especially my vocation, and will continue to receive through his powerful intercession.

Testimony of Joseph G. from Australia

I first learnt about Blessed Pier Giorgio Frasating during World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney, Australia. I was very fortunate to have the grace of being in his presence during the time that his body was kept in a casket at St Benedicts Church. At the time, I was also a University student and doing engineering as my chosen profession. Because of this I felt I could relate a lot to Blessed pier Giorgio's life and was drawn to his character in the faith.
During the year 2012, I established an adventure group within my Maronite Church youth community that has received tremendous support and success. Many adventures have taken place and many young faithful have come to learn of this remarkable persons life. I believe that he continues to watch over me and the group and continues to offer much insight into the often difficult journey of holy sanctity.
