I have worked with youth and young people for over twenty-five years. I remember when his story was first circulating and they were beatifying him as Blessed. His story allows youth to see that they can be saints and holiness is obtainable for the average and modern day Catholic.

I was searching for a young Saint to introduce to our parish's youth at Vacation Bible School this summer when I came across Blessed Pier Giorgio in my studies to become a Lay Dominican. The youth were very inspired. They came up with lists of people they wanted to do good things for. Most importantly, they were very happy to attend Adoration just as Bl. Pier Giorgio loved. This was the first time for most of the youth we took to Adoration and some who were not Catholic left saying that they really wanted to be Catholic because Adoration was so great. The closeness the youth felt to Christ after VBS was definitely a grace bestowed on them through the work of Blessed Pier Giorgio.

My husband and were married in August of 2015, conceived our first child that September, and miscarried in October. We strongly believe that child was a boy, and named him after Pier Giorgio (we call him Georgie). Our family motto is "to the heights" now, and we're grateful for all the ways that our little patron has interceded for us, alongside his patron, in our ministry work with teenagers in our local diocese, across the country, and even internationally; and for our family (including our 11 week old daughter) and friends. Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati has played a big role in my faith. I just recently joined the Catholic Church in April (praise be to God!) His story helped me to realize that we are meant to share our faith in a joyful and adventurous way. We are a Roman Catholic home school family in the United States and our faith is our life line. After spending time with Franciscan University of Steubenville in Italy, my oldest sons, Anthony and Joseph, seem to be in awe of the amazing modern young saint, Pier Giorgio! My eldest states his first son will be named Pier Giorgio. My second sent out this most important email regarding his impending canonization. My youngest son, John Paul, recently took Pier Giorgio as his confirmation name. Our parish priests were delighted!

I first read the story of Blessed Pier Giorgio at the age of 16. When I was 18, I received a relic of him, a piece of linen from his deathbed. From then on, I considered him as my brother in heaven.
When I discovered that he became a lay Dominican at a young age, it also inspired me to enter a third order. And so, in 2014, I entered the Secular Oblates of St. Benedict, and made my oblation (promising to observe the Rule of St. Benedict for all of my life) last September 2015.
Bl. Pier Giorgio is a luminous example that everyone is called to sainthood, no matter the age, temperament, or profession. Together with Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, they have shown us that age is no barrier when it comes to a free and loving response to the grace of God.

There is something about Blessed Pier Georgio that really appeals to me despite my 76 years! It think it's his enthusiasm , his charity, generosity, joy! Who could fail to respond to someone so full of life and deep love of God.....Pier Georgio is not just for the young, but for the young in heart.May he become more widely known and honoured.I pray to him for my three sons, all dedicated to Our Lady and all three lapsed from their Catholic faith,to my sorrow.I hope with all my heart the the Holy Father will Canonise him. It was in the early 90's Friends and I were talking and looking at Holy Trader cards. I was asking about a need for a contemporary who was pure and example of virtue for my sons especially besides St Dominic Savio.
A friend showed me Pier Giorgio's card and I fell in love. I immediately tried to find out more about him via the internet and unfortunately in American at the time there was not much info. This was before Frassati USA and Christine Wohar. I got a response from Wanda Gawronska !! What a beautiful soul!! She wrote back to me and I told her that I wanted to help spread devotion to Pier Giorgio!! He has become patron of our home and we have a beautiful holy card with a piece of his deathbed sheet that Wanda sent us . It remains on our home altar right next to Our Lady and Our Lord.
My husband and I had the greatest blessing last year in The Year of Mercy to go to Italy. First Stop was to go to Turin and see Pier Giorgio!! Tears of joy flooded our hearts and I felt as if I had finally met my big brother!!!
We had hoped to meet Wanda in Rome but it did not happen that time but we hope to return in a couple of years to see him again. We too wonder why he has yet to be canonized. I believe it is because of his humility that he says, "no, I'm not worthy Lord, canonize someone else". But we would love to be there for his canonization if Pope Francis deems it. God bless you for your endeavors to make this happen in Our Lords mercy.

I had the opportunity of visiting Pollone and his summer house with my college, Franciscan University of Steubenville while i was studying abroad in Europe. We got to climb the mountain he frequently climbed and it was one of the best experiences of my life, something that I will always remember. He has become an incredible role model for living as a Catholic in today's world and striving for holiness in everything we do. He has become a person of comfort for me to pray to and ask for intercession.
